  • Address bias through intervening in patterns of thinking underlying behavior
  • Learn how to receive feedback in order to gain new insights of blind spots
Self-regulation
  • Learn skills for self-regulating emotions in order to stay engaged in a difficult conversation
  • Learn how to manage own judgement, feeling “right”, contempt, fear, anger, and shame
  • Learn the role of mindful self-compassion in enabling connection across differences
Create equity and manage power differentials
  • Increase awareness and deepen empathy for the struggles of all people, especially with whom we have the most differences.
  • Understand the human impulses that drive us to unconsciously put oneself in power-Up positions while putting others in power-Down positions.

  • Become aware of how privilege operates in everyday interactions
  • Practice how to create equity in interpersonal dynamics and address power differentials
Social identity development

  • Be able to distinguish between acting as an individual and acting as a member of a social identity
  • Learn about stereotype threat, how it can operate in any individual and how to bounce back
