A two-part training for facilitators, catalysts of change, and helping professionals
Diversity Dynamics 1: Foundations
Facilitators: Tiffany von Emmel, Pien van den Herik, Leslie Chin, Paul Loper
This weekend workshop focuses upon gaining a common understanding of the system of inequities that create power differentials between groups. Seeing the many ways these inequities are held in place and play out is important context for successfully navigating misunderstandings and/or different views between individuals. We will balance conceptual descriptions with activities that put us in touch with the lived experiences of different groups as well as the experiences of being “power up” or “power down.” Throughout we will take time to practice ways of soothing strong emotions that invariably arise with this topic.
There will be small group learning experiences that enable us to apply the framework of systemic power inequities to our in-the-moment interactions and strengthen work relationships through explicitly addressing dynamics arising from membership in groups with differing levels of power. Attendance at all sessions is necessary as we will build upon conceptual material presented and safety created from our interactions.
April 26, 27, 28th, 2019: For Stanford, I-LEAD Facilitators, actively facilitating
For enrollment, Contact Mindy Williams by April 12th
Diversity Dynamics 2: Facilitation Skills
Facilitators: Tiffany von Emmel, Pien van den Herik, Leslie Chin, Paul Loper

The facilitation skills that we will explore and practice:
The workshop design emphasizes in-the-moment practice with one another with a balance of reflective small group exchanges, somatic experiential learning, and presentations.
A prerequisite for attending Diversity Dynamics 2 is participation in Diversity Dynamics 1.
September 13, 14, 15th, 2019: For Stanford, I-LEAD Facilitators, actively facilitating
