The Art of Self is a powerful transformative learning experience for people who want to be an effective instrument of change in their groups, organizations and communities. In a group of peers, you are invited to step into your power and agency to practice facilitating change. Focusing on your own learning goals, you will hone your craft of interpersonal and group dynamics skills over several days. You will practice holding the complexity of mindfulness and compassion for yourself while being present with intra-personal, interpersonal and group level processes. You will deepen self-awareness about how you influence the group while expanding your range of conscious choices. Learning intentions Participants will be supported to develop their own learning goals, such as the following:
The course is highly experiential. The learning journey includes 40 hours of experiential learning, introduction to models and tools, and direct interaction with other participants. Mindful experiential learning: As a participant, you will learn mindfulness-based tools to reduce stress and increase compassion for self and others. Engaging diverse ways of knowing, the workshop will also guide you through embodied learning activities as a means to more deeply understand yourself and how you relate to others. TGroup: A powerful transformative experience, TGroup is a learning laboratory in which group members explore and learn leadership and group dynamic skills by sharing “here and now” experiences and reactions and giving/receiving feedback to/from each other. Coaching: Participants will receive a coaching session before the weekend and a coaching session after the weekend with Pien Van Den Herik or Tiffany von Emmel. The Pre-weekend Coaching session focuses on identifying your goals for the weekend and the Post-Weekend Coaching focuses on applying your learnings from the weekend. Who should attend? We encourage facilitators, consultants, catalysts for change, and helping professionals from different backgrounds to attend. The pre-requisite is prior experience in a T-group or a similar process group. Our acceptance process is geared towards creating a diverse group. Accommodations The rooms are lovely and spacious. There are a limited number of private bedrooms. Traditionally, in a TGroup retreat, participants stay overnight at the retreat home and share a room with a person of the same gender. We encourage that the shared bedrooms are silent zones, so that you can rest well. The bathrooms are shared. To reserve your accommodation, please fill out the application form. Meals The meals will be healthy, plant-based and fish meals. Gluten-free, dairy-free, and no sugar options will be available. No alcohol will be served during the intensive. You also have the option to arrive on Wednesday evening after 5pm. If you are flying in, we recommend that you fly in on Wednesday to avoid Thursday morning traffic from the airport. After registration, we will give you access to an online ridesharing board, where you can put your contact info and directly contact participants to coordinate ridesharing. Registration Fee To support our goals of fostering inclusion and to form a diverse group, we offer an affordably priced sliding scale fee of $2,000-$500. For comparison, the market rate for Corporate programs runs about $1,000 per day. Please pay at the highest level of the sliding scale that you can afford. This allows others who need to pay less the opportunity to attend. A payment plan over time is also available. To Register

What participants say:This training gave me a great opportunity to work on my interpersonal goals in a live setting with real-time feedback. Facilitation was excellent. I felt safe and cared for and was able to go deep and stretch into my learning goals, as well as develop new learning goals as I progressed through the weekend training. Overall a beautiful growth experience that left me with a feeling of gratitude. You are masterful in the way you can skillfully facilitate the group between levels, from intra-personal to inter-personal to group level, and generate an effective outcome. This has been a great learning for me. So caring for the people in the group and meeting an unbelievable range of people emotionally, which was fantastic. It created such a safe space for everyone. You are really good at repair. You were... such a model for me. I felt so lucky to have you as a facilitator. Your compassion for others is so remarkable and runs so deep, your care. In a very positive way, you exhibited such an array and depth of emotion. To learn that was so helpful. Let's stay connected. Sign up below
